Engagement Session-Part 1

Today marks the beginning of a new series here on Champagne & Chandeliers.  We’re talking about engagement sessions, or as we in the biz like to call them: E-Sessions.

The E-Session is the probably the first portrait session that you and your fiance have set up so far in your relationship, so it is going to be a learning experience for the both of you.  Also with so many amazing options for your E-Session, it will take some serious decision-making to get through it.

The first decision to make is pretty easy: your photographer.  Most photographers offer packages that include an E-Session, Bridal Portraits, and photography on the day of the wedding.  The idea that you beloved photographer will be shooting all of these very special days will put your mind to ease.  However, if your wedding day photographer is booked or doesn’t offer a package like this, they can usually recommend another photographer or one of their own second shooters.

A second shooter is a less experienced photographer that works with photographers that are more familiar with the wedding photography field, kind of like an apprenticeship.  Using a second shooter is a great choice.  Typically, you will get a photographer that has the same style as your wedding day photographer, tons of talent, but just a little less experience.  And, since it will be just you and your spouse-to-be, the experience directing wedding parties and families is less important.

Here are a few E-Sessions that we saw on Southern Weddings Magazine Blog that we just loved!  Enjoy, and make sure to tune in next week for Part 2 of this series!
