Engagement Session- Part 2

Welcome back to our most recent series!  We started talking about engagement sessions and photographers last week, and now we’re going to talk about another important component of your E-Session…the location!  Most photographers like to keep the number of locations at one or two, so couples need to make sure their location equally represents the two of them.

If you just happen to be royalty or marrying into royalty, you can most certainly have your engagement session at the palace, like William and Kate.  However, most of us will be marrying our Prince Charming and not an actual prince.

With all the Royal Baby excitement, I couldn't resist incorporating the Duke & Duchess of Cambridge into this post. This photo comes from The Huffington Post.

There are lots of ways to make sure your engagement photos reflect both of you through the location you choose.

Perhaps you and your fiance met attending college.  Your favorite place on campus might be a good location for your photo session.  Or, if you and your fiance are from the same hometown, a hometown photo shoot is always adorable.  Some of my favorite engagement shoots are at the wedding venue.  If you have a gorgeous venue, why not incorporate it into your engagement pictures too?!

One of my favorite engagement portrait stories comes from one of my friends from high school.  She was in Charleston visiting her entrepreneur boyfriend.  He told her they had to go to the beach (her favorite place) because a local magazine wanted to get some pictures of him for an article they were writing and he wanted her to be in the pictures too.  She begrudgingly obliged, but not before complaining about not being able to wear running shorts and sneakers.  When they arrived, a photographer was waiting on them.  She started snapping a few posed shots, and she kept taking photos as he got down on one knee and asked her to marry him.  She accepted his proposal and they were able to take their engagement portraits on the beach before going to meet their parents for dinner.  How is that for sweet?

Happy planning until next week!
